Joey and I took the kids school clothes shopping in St. Louis for 2 days with a quick stop off in Cape Giradeau on the way home.
Whew!!!!! That was an exhausting two days when you feel like I do. I had to stop several times and rest. The bottom half of my right leg stays numb when I do any walking at all. That alone makes just taking a step challenging.
Many may think it is crazy to travel that far just for clothes but it is so much easier than trying to get everything here around home. Remember we live in the middle of nowhere. Most are shocked to hear we don't even have a Target.
All of Dylan's clothing comes either from Hot Topic or Spencer's, both of which we do not have. Marcus wants most of his stuff to be Cardinals. You can find that but there is soooooooo much more of it in St. Louis. Then there is Bre. She is more than happy to wear nothing but SpongeBob shirts from Wal-Mart. But I waited many years to have a little girl to dress and gosh darn it she is going to be dressed cute!
Of course Dylan will be sporting nothing but black t-shirts with various bands on them. He even got his shoes from Hot Topic along with a new belt, cuff bracelet, rings, and a necklace. I will admit I love his style and would have dressed the same way when I was his age if I had been given the chance.
Marcus is your typical sports/jock freak and his style shows it. Most of his shirts come from the Cardinals ClubHouse. He did shock me this time by choosing Nikes over his usual Cards shoes. But he made up for it by buying several Cards items for school, even a Cardinal's ruler.
My favorite for Bre is still Gymboree for clothes and Carters for her jammies. Along with that she got some new shoes from Sketchers and Target (love Target). I did learn one thing about shopping for her, don't always judge a book by it's cover. Dylan and I walked into this one children's clothing place that just screamed ghetto baby. I didn't turn and walk out though instead I went to the back corner and there I hit the jackpot! I got 3 of the cutest outfits. They are the type that you pay at least $60 for at boutiques. I was thrilled to pay under $20 for each one-score! Getting those so cheap made me feel better about the beautiful Dora jacket that we got at another speciality store. We will leave the cost of that one quiet, LOL!
I have to post about her trip into Claire's. We left the guys waiting on the outside and went in just the two of us. Boy oh boy did she have a blast in there. To me Claire's is the ultimate for a girly girl. She was so excited and just kept picking stuff out to buy. She ended up with bracelets, earrings, headband, and hair bows. Her two favorite finds were a small heart shaped compact with a mirror and a set of Princess lip glosses. Daddy shocked us though by walking in just as the cashier was ringing up her stash. I just grinned and told him he was suppose to stayed outside the store while I paid for it, haha!
After all of that I do believe we are ready for school next month.
